Before.....
During.....
And after!
Imagine standing at the edge of an open doorway in an aircraft flying at 10,000 feet - the noise of the engines and the wind ringing in your ears with only the outline of distant fields below. Now imagine leaning forward out of that doorway and letting go - falling forward into the clouds, diving down through the air as you start freefalling at over 120mph! Then imagine the peace and quiet as the canopy opens, the steering toggles come down either side of you and you begin a tranquil parachute descent from a mile up in the air, steering yourself back down to the centre of the drop zone below. Well thats what happened to Ann Waller and here is her unique story.....
'I signed up to do a tandem Skydive at Headcorn Parachute Club on Sunday 2nd May 2010 in aid of St Barnabas House. Unfortunately the weather was very poor that weekend so my skydive was rescheduled to Sunday 16th May. I am very pleased to say that I have now completed my skydive, and wanted to let everyone know how I got on!
As well as raising money for St Barnabas House, the skydive was a celebration for my 40th Birthday, on 30th April, and was also a celebration of 10 years together with my boyfriend, Garry. We met doing a skydive for St Barnabas House in June 2000!
Garry was my tandem skydiving instructor in June 2000 all those years ago. He skydives professionally as a tandem instructor and as part of world-record formation for skydiving events.
Since 2000 I have also successfully completed a skydiving course in Florida with Garry in which I learned to skydive solo. My tandem skydive this year was with Garry again, and it was great to celebrate with him as well as support such a good cause!
I raised a total of £400 in sponsorship, plus a personal contribution from me for St Barnabas House, from my skydive this year and I loved every minute of it!
