A special charity auction in aid of St Barnabas House is being held at the Toby Carvery Downlands on Saturday 18 February.

The popular pub and carvery, on the A27 Upper Brighton Road in Worthing, is undergoing extensive refurbishment and will be auctioning off approximately 200 items which were on display in the dining room and bar areas.

Toby Carvery celebrates all that is great about Britain and the high quality lots include great British pictures, prints, cartoons and bric a brac. All proceeds from the auction will be donated to St Barnabas House.

The auction has been organised by Deputy Manager, Gen Mardle, who is also responsible for other fundraising activities held at The Downlands in aid of St Barnabas. Said Gen 'We are delighted to offer a piece of our British history to anyone keen to collect, as we are modernising our popular business. This is also a fantastic opportunity to raise much needed funds for a more than worthy local hospice. We look forward to seeing you on the day, or anytime you fancy visiting us!'

Said Mary Bye, Community Fundraiser at St Barnabas House, 'We are absolutely thrilled that The Downlands has decided to donate the proceeds of the auction to St Barnabas. Both staff and customers have shown fantastic support for the hospice in the past and we have high hopes for the auction. With so many high quality lots on offer, I'm sure it will be a huge success so we hope to see lots of people there, bidding to secure a great piece of British history while supporting their local hospice.'

Guest auctioneer Mike Solomons will lead the auction, which starts at 3pm. Buyers are welcome to view the lots from midday.
