On Sunday 15th April 2012 five friends and colleagues from HM Revenue ran the arduous 26 miles of the Brighton Marathon in memory of their dear friend and colleague, Margaret Wingfield. The team raised an outstanding total of £2,550 for St Barnabas House and have confirmed that they will be running the Brighton Marathon again in 2013.

Margaret sadly lost her battle with cancer in February this year at St Barnabas House and the hospice remains dear to the five friends and her husband Graham.

Said Graham, 'Margaret enjoyed many years of volunteering at St Barnabas and had told me on numerous occasions the fantastic work that all the team do. It was terribly sad when she passed away. However, I knew that she received the best possible care. I was touched when Kerry and her colleagues contacted me to say they were running for the charity and specifically in memory of my beloved wife. I know that this fantastic sum of money will be hugely appreciated by all at St Barnabas House and I am delighted that it will be used for such a worthy cause.'

The five strong team, made up of Kerry Paxton, Henry De Winne, Helen Gee, Nigel Gee and Rob Miles, achieved some superb times for their run from 3 hours 39 minutes to 5 hours and 9 minutes and are now looking forward to beating their times in 2013.

Said Leanne Willard, Events & Campaigns Fundraiser at St Barnabas House, 'We would like to say a huge and heartfelt thank you to the team from HM Revenue for their dedication and completing the Brighton Marathon. They have raised such a substantial amount money for the hospice and we were delighted to hear that they will be doing it again for St Barnabas in 2013.'
