You may already have heard the exciting news about plans to rebuild St Barnabas House. The hospice's planning application was submitted in December and, if successful, it is hoped that building work will commence later this year.
Since St Barnabas opened its doors 35 years ago, the hospice has cared for over 20,000 patients and their families within the area of Worthing, Adur and Arun. The rebuild is a massive undertaking so Chief Executive, Hugh Lowson, is appealing for the local community to get involved.
'So many people have been touched by the care they have received at St Barnabas over the years and we have an incredible band of loyal supporters. I would like to invite as many people as possible to get involved in this exciting project in the early stages in order to help secure the future of St Barnabas and the vital service we provide now and for generations to come.'
The hospice has a large number of Friends Groups who were involved in many of the initial fundraising activities when the hospice first opened in 1973, and their numbers and involvement has continued throughout the years. In the last 5 years alone St Barnabas House Friends Groups have raised an amazing £360,000 through organising fundraising events in their local community.
At this exciting time the Friends Groups will be more vital then ever helping to raise the extra funds needed to achieve the hospice's dream. With this in mind, the Friends Groups would like to invite people in their area who also want to be involved in this innovative project to attend one of their local open meetings (listed below) to meet them and find out more about the rebuild.
