As part of our groundbreaking move towards developing and integrating a rehabilitative palliative care approach at St Barnabas House, we are seeking a senior therapist lead with comprehensive service development skills and experience. You will be responsible for establishing this pioneering approach within our day service, and spearheading our commitment to promote independence and maximise quality of life initiatives for  an increasing number of our community affected by longer term end of life care conditions.

The successful candidate will be either an HCPC Registered Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist, with at least 5 years post registration experience. Proficiency within an end of life care environment, and managing and co-ordinating the support of adults with diverse life limiting needs is critical to this role.

Responsible for shaping a new approach to the way day services are delivered, you will have already worked in a senior therapist role in a recognised healthcare setting.In recognition of the unique skills and knowledge required to undertake this role, we will support your development whilst implementing and establishing a wellbeing and rehabilitative support structure within an end of life care environment.

Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice near Arundel works across Sussex providing care for children and young people with life-shortening conditions and their families.

We are looking for an experienced administrator to support our Education Department. You will be responsible for providing a full admin / secretarial support to our clinical lecturers including preparing for all educational events, dealing with enquiries face to face and over the phone, efficient administration of the library and ensuring that all of the Education Departments training records are accurate and up to date.

The successful applicant will have excellent communication and organisational skills together with the ability to remain calm under pressure.  Attention to detail is essential in this role as is fast and accurate keyboard skills together with a good working knowledge of MS Office Software. You will have the flexibility to work independently, using your own initiative, whilst remaining part of the Education Team.

Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice near Arundel works across Sussex providing care for children and young people with life-shortening conditions and their families.

We are recruiting an Officer to join a busy, friendly team which provides a full administrative, management and development service for our weekly fundraising Lottery.  Reporting to the Lottery Manager, you will be responsible for the collection of Lottery donations from 36,000 supporters, managing our Lottery database, planning workflow and supervising other members of the team.  You will be able to deputise for the Lottery Manager, talk to the public and assist with monitoring Lottery promotional activity.

This is a really satisfying job for someone who enjoys financial administration, developing procedures and working with a customer database. You must have at least two years’ experience of working with large data-sets, gained in a financial administration environment.  Being able to manage and reconcile a large customer database is essential and experience of managing direct debits would be ideal.  Clear-thinking, problem-solving and organisational skills are required.  You will enjoy being part of a small team which strives to enhance and improve our vital Lottery.

Full driving licence and access to own vehicle is essential.

Retail Van Driver – Warehouse Assistant – closes Friday 14 October

St Barnabas Hospices offers specialist palliative care through two hospices: St Barnabas House adult hospice in Worthing and Chestnut Tree House, the only children’s hospice in Sussex, near Arundel. Our shops and Distribution Centre provide one of our most important revenue streams and offer quality items and a friendly service.

Are you looking for a new challenge?

We have an exciting opportunity for a Van Driver to join our Retail Team. Reporting to the Manager of the Retail Distribution Centre you will be responsible for multi-drop deliveries across East and West Sussex including South East Hampshire therefore you will need good knowledge of the local area and a proven track record of route-planning. You will also be required to collect and deliver furniture so must be physically fit. Other duties will include providing some basic maintenance within the shops and will therefore need general DIY skills you will also have responsibility for ensuring the vehicle fleet is safe and suitable for use and some weekend duties are required.

The successful candidate will have experience of furniture removals with knowledge of manual handling, health and safety and risk assessment, ideally some knowledge of trading standards. PAT Testing experience would be desirable but not essential. You must be a team player, able to work collaboratively and have excellent communication and customer service skills. Some experience of working with volunteers would be an advantage.

A full clean driving licence is essential as is experience of driving up to Luton vehicle.

Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice near Arundel works across Sussex providing care for children and young people with life-shortening conditions and their families.

Do you have the passion, drive and commitment to be part of a successful and dedicated hospice fundraising team?

We are looking for a really special person to look after donors giving in memory of loved ones and to develop legacy giving for both St Barnabas House adult hospice and Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice.

This is a new post with responsibility for shaping and delivering giving programmes, developing relationships with supporters and inspiring more people to support the hospices, including gifts in Wills. As well as providing a personal point of contact for supporters, you will be working across the fundraising team, as well as with clinical staff and our Family Services team.

The successful candidate will have a good standard of education and at least three years’ experience of working in a customer-focused role (for example, fundraising, sales/marketing or business development).  Sensitive and diplomatic, you must have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to engage and influence people.

Good organisational skills are essential to meet competing demands and deliver on priorities as well as handling sudden pressures.  You will take responsibility for a key area of our work, be able to think on your feet and work autonomously in sensitive situations.

Community Nurse Specialists in Palliative Care

Salary: £38,670 FTE

St Barnabas House provides specialist palliative care to adults in the Worthing, Adur, Arun and Henfield areas through a range of services, including in-patient care, Day Hospice and community care. We currently have the following vacancy in our in-patient unit:

Are you passionate about palliative care?

Do you have a comprehensive knowledge of pain and symptom control?

Do you possess a high level of communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team?

As a Nurse Specialist you will be working as part of the Community Palliative Care Team, providing 24 hour specialist nursing advice and support to patients, families and health-care professionals within the community setting.

Applications are welcomed from Registered Nurses with extensive palliative care experience and knowledge, preferably at Masters level. You should hold a relevant degree, or post Registration qualification in Palliative Care/Oncology.

We will support you to achieve advanced assessment skills, non-medical prescribing and DNACPR competencies.

NHS pension transferrable.

35 days annual leave, including bank holidays.
