Community Nurse Specialists in Palliative Care

Hours: Full and part time hours available
Salary: £39,250 FTE

St Barnabas House provides specialist palliative care to adults in the Worthing, Adur, Arun and Henfield areas through a range of services, including in-patient care, Day Hospice and community care. We currently have the following vacancy in our in-patient unit:

Are you passionate about palliative care?

Do you have a comprehensive knowledge of pain and symptom control?

Do you possess a high level of communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team?

As a Nurse Specialist you will be working as part of the Community Palliative Care Team, providing 24 hour specialist nursing advice and support to patients, families and health-care professionals within the community setting.

Applications are welcomed from Registered Nurses with extensive palliative care experience and knowledge, preferably at Masters level. You should hold a relevant degree, or post Registration qualification in Palliative Care/Oncology.

We will support you to achieve advanced assessment skills, non-medical prescribing and DNACPR competencies.

NHS pension transferrable.

35 days annual leave, including bank holidays.

Digital Intern

St Barnabas House is looking for a Digital Intern to support the Digital Communications Team.

Requirements:

  • Marketing/communications background

Community Staff Nurse – East Sussex

Based at the Chestnut Tree House Office in Eastbourne

We understand that it takes a very special person to care for a life-limited child or young person. Paediatric palliative care is a growing and challenging specialty which will utilise all of your clinical and interpersonal skills. With your breadth of experience and transferable skills, coupled with our support and friendly team, we can help you to succeed.

You will be joining our Community Team at Chestnut Tree House to provide holistic, individualised care and to support children / young people and their families experiencing a life shortening condition within the child / young person’s community environment. We are looking to recruit a paediatric or general nurse preferably with experience of working with children with complex needs and preferably with IV, however, training is available to give you the skills required for this very rewarding role.

This post will include supporting the ‘hard to reach families project’ in leading a system of change and will include networking, supporting and providing care to families that currently do not access our services. The project aims to reach families that may not be aware or have not felt confident to approach the hospice for additional support.

A full driving licence and access to your own transport is essential for this Community based role.

You will work with the therapy and support services lead to provide high quality palliative rehabilitation to patients with life limiting conditions with a focus on promoting independence.

You will be working together with the multi-disciplinary team on our 20 bed inpatient unit, you will also be providing outpatient services including a breathlessness clinic and exercise classes as well visiting patients in their own homes to help maintain their independence.

The ability to drive and ownership of your own car is essential in this role.

We will support you in your Continuing Professional Development and have an excellent Education department running regular relevant courses.

St Barnabas House in Worthing provides specialist palliative care to adult patients with advanced progressive life-limiting illnesses. Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice near Arundel works across Sussex providing care for children and young people with life-shortening conditions and their families.

We are looking to recruit an experienced Administrator to cover a period of maternity leave in our busy Lottery Office. You will be part of a small team providing a full administrative support service to the Lottery Manager responsible for the collection of Lottery donations from some 36000 supporters. Duties include administering our Lottery database, undertaking daily financial reconciliations, managing correspondence and processing Direct Debits. You will handle incoming calls, post and email, and assist with the monitoring of our external canvassing team.

The successful candidate will have a good standard of general education and at least two years’ experience in financial/accounting administration. Proficiency with MS Office packages and databases is essential as are good keyboard skills. You must have excellent communication and customer service skills developed within a public facing role and you should be able to work independently whilst remaining an effective part of the Lottery team. Strong organisational skills are essential to meet competing demands and deliver on deadlines as well as handling sudden pressures, whilst maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

Full driving licence and access to own vehicle is essential.

Our shops and Distribution Centre provide one of our most important revenue streams and offer quality items and a friendly service. At a time of continued expansion we currently have the following vacancy:

Retail Assistant Manager – Durrington

Hours: 22.5 hours per week (3 days out of 7, Monday-Sunday, inc Bank Holidays)

Salary £8,832 p.a. (FTE £14,720)

Are you a highly organised, sales focused Assistant Manager who would love to lead our team within our busy Durrington Charity Shop. If so we are looking for an independently minded team worker who is passionate about customer service to join our team of Managers supported by our Area Manager

Responsibilities include: 

Delivering excellent customer service; managing a team of staff and volunteers; stock control; visual merchandising; liaison with the Distribution Centre for stock; using the EPOS system; daily cash handling and banking; ensuring the staff, volunteers, the shop and the site are safe and secure.

Experience in retail, sales or a similar environment is vital and experience of working in a charity shop or knowledge of furniture sales is highly desirable.

We are looking to recruit to the following position:

Are you someone with good knowledge of IT functionality in order to interface with our managers and our outsourced IT support company? We are looking for someone operationally and service focused with the required skills and knowledge to lead and manage the estates and facilities teams which fall under this role.

Our main business is across two Hospices and a Retail Distribution Centre and this role spans all three of these bases and will require some travel between our premises. A driving licence and access to a car is essential for this post
