Retail Shop Manager (Durrington)

Salary: £17,210 p.a. (+ bonus)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week (5 days out of 7, Monday-Sunday, inc Bank Holidays)

St Barnabas House provides specialist palliative care to adults in the Worthing, Adur, Arun and Henfield areas through a range of services, including in-patient care, Day Hospice and community care.

Are you a highly organised, sales focused Manager who would love to take charge of our busy Durrington Charity Shop. If so we are looking for an independently minded team worker who is passionate about customer service to join our team of Managers supported by our Area Manager.

Responsibilities include:

Delivering excellent customer service; managing a team of staff and volunteers; stock control; visual merchandising; liaison with the Distribution Centre for stock; managing budgets and targets; using the EPOS system; daily cash handling and banking; ensuring the staff, volunteers, the shop and the site are safe and secure.

Experience in retail, sales or a similar target driven environment is vital and experience of working in a charity shop or knowledge of furniture sales is highly desirable.

Community Nurse Specialist in Palliative Care

Salary: £38,670 FTE           
Hours: Full Time (part time considered)

St Barnabas House provides specialist palliative care to adults in the Worthing, Adur, Arun and Henfield areas through a range of services, including in-patient care, Day Hospice and community care.

Are you passionate about palliative care?

Do you have a comprehensive knowledge of pain and symptom control?

Do you possess a high level of communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team?

As a Nurse Specialist you will be working as part of the Community Palliative Care Team, providing 24 hour specialist nursing advice and support to patients, families and health-care professionals within the community setting.

Applications are welcomed from Registered Nurses with extensive palliative care experience and knowledge, preferably at Masters level. You should hold a relevant degree, or post Registration qualification in Palliative Care/Oncology

We will support you to achieve advanced assessment skills, non-medical prescribing and DNACPR competencies.

NHS pension transferrable.

35 days annual leave, including BH.

Retail Van Drivers – two vacancies

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

St Barnabas Hospices offers specialist palliative care through two hospices: St Barnabas House adult hospice in Worthing and Chestnut Tree House, the only children’s hospice in Sussex, near Arundel. Our shops and Distribution Centre provide one of our most important revenue streams and offer quality items and a friendly service.

Are you looking for a new challenge?

We have an exciting opportunity for two Van Drivers to join our Retail Team. Reporting to the Manager of the Retail Distribution Centre you will be responsible for multi-drop deliveries across East and West Sussex and South East Hampshire, therefore you will need good knowledge of the local area and a proven track record of route-planning. You will also be required to collect and deliver furniture so must be physically fit.

Other duties will include providing some basic maintenance within the shops and will therefore need general DIY skills. You will also have responsibility for ensuring the vehicle fleet is safe and suitable for use, and some weekend duties are required.

The successful candidate will have experience of furniture removals with knowledge of manual handling, health and safety and risk assessment, ideally some knowledge of trading standards. PAT Testing experience would be desirable but not essential. You must be a team player, able to work collaboratively and have excellent communication and customer service skills. Some experience of working with volunteers would be an advantage.

A full clean driving licence is essential, as is experience of driving up to Luton vehicle.

Family Services Volunteer Coordinator

Salary: £11,104 (£20,820 FTE)            
Hours: 20 hours a week (to be worked over 4-5 days (preferably afternoons)

St. Barnabas House provides specialist palliative care to adults in the Worthing, Adur, Arun and Henfield areas in West Sussex through a range of services, including care on the in-patient unit,  the Day Hospice, in the community and in bereavement.

Your role will be to assist the work of the Family Services Team (counselling, social work, chaplaincy and bereavement) by coordinating and supporting the work of the 50+ volunteers within the team.

You will need to have excellent communication skills, be well organised, have experience of working with volunteers and of managing the work of others. You will need to be able to work well within a multi-professional team as well as taking responsibility for your own workload. There will be frequent contact with the hospice’s service users.
