Rosemarie Finley’s column

Next week is Hospice Care Week, a time when over 200 hospices across the country join forces to raise awareness of hospice care.

This year, we will be showing what it takes to provide free hospice care to over 1,786 local people each year. When you hear the word hospice I can imagine you think of doctors and nurses, of medicine and beds. During Hospice Care Week we want to shine a light on some of the other things it takes to run St Barnabas House – the gardeners and housekeeping teams, the art supplies and cups of tea, and so much more.

Hospices rely on the goodwill of their local communities to deliver services and St Barnabas House would not exist without the extraordinary efforts of you, our supporters. We’d love you to get involved in Hospice Care Week (7-13 October) by helping spread the word with friends and family or joining in the conversation on social media.

There are lots of different ways you can support St Barnabas during Hospice Care Week and beyond. Whether you register for an event, make a donation, visit one the hospice’s charity shops or join the St Barnabas Lottery, your support will help provide hospice care for local people who need it.
