Over 60 St Barnabas House supporters have kickstarted 2021 in a positive way by taking part in the hospice’s Fit Feb virtual challenge – completing an hour of physical or mental fitness every day throughout February, to raise vital funds for hospice care.
With the support of families, friends, colleagues, pets and a dedicated social media group, participants have been walking, dancing, crafting, singing and even gaming their way through lockdown.
Their incredible efforts have so far raised a combined total of £5,507, which will mean that local adults with terminal illnesses and their loved ones will be able to live life as fully as possible, for the time they have left together. They’ll be cared for in the peace and tranquility of the hospice or in the comfort of their own homes. And families will be supported for years to come with bereavement counselling and opportunities to remember their loved one.
One participant, Mark, says:
“It was a privilege and honour to take part in Fit Feb and raise funds for care at St Barnabas House hospice. I enjoyed the challenge and would like to say well done to everyone else who took part too, and their supporters.”
St Barnabas would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part or donated to the cause for their extraordinary generosity, particularly in these challenging times.
