‘Night to Remember’ walk returns

Tuesday 18 May 2021

‘Incredible’, ‘special’ and ‘heart-warming’ are just three of the words used in the past to describe St Barnabas House’s Night to Remember. After holding the event virtually last year, we are looking forward to bringing the celebrated night walk back on Saturday 11 September 2021, with the camaraderie and solidarity it brings to those taking part.

“Night to Remember is such a well-loved event in the community, with people of all ages and abilities taking part for so many different reasons,” says Fiona Anderson at St Barnabas House. We know that many people take part in memory of family and friends who have been cared for by the hospice, and that shared experience is what brings people together and creates the amazing atmosphere.”

Setting off at 10.30pm on Saturday 11 September 2021, Night to Remember participants will light up the streets of Worthing and walk through the night, reflecting the 24-hour nature of the care and support that St Barnabas House offers to patients and their families.

Open to men, women and children aged 10 and over, the three Night to Remember routes (7, 13.1, or 26 miles) will lead walkers along Worthing seafront, the pier, and through residential streets.

“After holding the event virtually last year due to COVID-19, we’re so excited to plan this year’s event and invite our supporters to take part in Night to Remember this September,” says Fiona. “With the autumn nights still balmy, we really hope to be able to bring supporters our usual event with all the bells and whistles it deserves.

“However, we are still very aware that things can change, and while we are looking forward to holding the event, the safety of our supporters, staff and volunteers remains our top priority. We want to assure everyone that we will continue to monitor the situation, and our COVID-19 promise means that you can register with confidence knowing that we will be putting your safety first.”

This year, Night to Remember is being sponsored by Rug Doctor, a local company that is a strong supporter of St Barnabas House. “We are delighted to be supporting our local hospice. We are very aware of the amazing work that they do for families and in some cases, have even been part of our own lives,” says Sean Adlem-Knight at Rug Doctor. “St Barnabas is a charity that is close to the hearts of many of the employees at Rug Doctor and we are thrilled to support them with their flagship event.”
