Our Board of Trustees are all volunteers. They are responsible for the governance of the charity, overseeing and guiding the work of the Chief Executive and Senior Management Team.
Mike Rymer, Chair of Trustees
Mike was a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in West Sussex for 24years, retiring from clinical practice in 2014. He was Medical Director at Worthing Hospice for 4years prior to and following the merger with St Richards’ Hospital.
Since retiring from clinical work, he served as a Non-Executive Director on the Board of Western Sussex Hospitals and Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals and as Deputy Chair for Western Sussex Hospitals.
A large part of his clinical practice was devoted to Gynaecological Cancer which brought regular direct contact with the Hospice and this, together with the care provided by St Barnabas to two of his immediate relatives, inspired him to get involved as a trustee.
On the Board of Trustees, Mike has particular interest in the quality of care provided and the strategic direction of the organisation, and feels privileged to be part of an organisation providing the highest quality of care to individuals and their families when it is most needed.
