Our Board of Trustees are all volunteers. They are responsible for the governance of the charity, overseeing and guiding the work of the Chief Executive and Senior Management Team.
Turn your talents to becoming a Trustee?
St Barnabas Hospices (Sussex) Limited is a large independent charity based in Worthing. There are two hospices that are part of the legal entity. The first is St Barnabas House; this hospice has provided high quality palliative care since 1973 for patients in the Worthing, Adur and Arun area. The second hospice is Chestnut Tree House, our children’s hospice, in Angmering, where we care for children from the whole of Sussex and South East Hampshire.
Our 15-strong Board is responsible for setting the strategy for the hospices, and prides itself on the charity providing the highest quality of care to our local community. The Board meets monthly except for December with a range of Board Sub-Committees meeting throughout the year. All of our Trustees are volunteers, generously giving their time and a high level of commitment to the hospices and their work. A programme of induction, training and support is provided.
We are looking for a new Trustee with particular skills in Information Technology. This opportunities has arisen due to our succession policy which encourages a healthy turnover at Board level – we believe that this brings new ideas and experiences to the charity and ensures that we continue to improve as we seek to help many more local people and their families in the future. We strive to recruit Trustees from the communities we serve. We need to ensure that we reach everyone in Sussex who needs our help, and we ask for your help to achieve this.
Interested candidates for these Trustee vacancies are welcome to have an informal discussion with CEO Hugh Lowson prior to interview to gain a better understanding of the role. Please call 01903 706308 or email hugh.lowson@stbh.org.uk.
To apply please send a C.V. together with a covering letter outlining how you meet each of the short listing criteria to Hugh Lowson at hugh.lowson@stbh.org.uk.
We look forward to hearing from you.
