Our Chief Executive and Senior Management Team (SMT) members support the Board of Trustees, leading the charity’s operations and overseeing the day to day running of both hospices – St Barnabas House and Chestnut Tree House. Heading up the various departments within the charity, the SMT meets regularly to review organisational performance, manage the implementation of strategy and agree policy.
Dave joined the charity in October 2019 following a 29 year career in policing where he held a number of senior leadership positions in human resources, most recently with the Metropolitan Police Service. His career started in Sussex Police, before taking up positions in national and international law enforcements agencies followed by national strategy and policy roles. He has also spent time working on secondments to the Home Office and the National Police Chiefs Council. Outside of work Dave is a District Scout Leader in mid Sussex, where he supports larger events as well as working with individual groups to teach scouts backwoods cooking and tomahawk throwing. He is also a member of a small team that organises an annual hike on the South Downs for Scouts and Guides. He is married with two children: an 18 year old daughter who is heading off to agricultural university, which he is dreading, and an (almost) 17 year old son who has started at sixth form college in Brighton and is a keen rugby player. He also has two spaniels.
