Our sustainability commitment

We believe in making real changes in small steps by keeping sustainability at the core of our events from start to finish, from planning and preparation to execution on delivery.

We recognise the growing impact events can have on the environment and our responsibility to limit not only our own emissions but to work closely with our venues and suppliers to manage the event’s overall environmental impact. We’re working towards making positive changes that contribute to ‘greener’ events.

Caring for our environment is fundamental to assuring a sustainable future for all, which is why when you sign up to any of our events we’ll be making sure that we follow the polices outlined below. We’ll also commit to review our policies on a yearly basis to take into account new developments.

How we’re minimising our waste footprint:

  • Sourcing local food and drink.
  • Serving vegetarian food.
  • Using local services and suppliers.

How we’re reducing harmful emissions and our carbon footprint:

  • Including considerations around greener travel and journey sharing and promote public transport access to events.
  • Offsetting international treks by planting shrubs and trees for each trekker taking part in one of our treks.
  • Seeking to reduce unnecessary travel and making the transport that is necessary as sustainable as possible.
  • Working closely with land managers to ensure the impact of the event on the environment is minimal, and brief participants about the environmental and land management issues of the route (if any).

How we’re reducing consumption of materials and promoting recycling:

  • Having recycling bins at our events.
  • Reducing our use of single use plastic.
  • Using up any current stock.
  • Wherever possible reusing event signs and marketing materials.
  • Considering environmental credentials when working with suppliers.
  • Using biodegradable items where possible.
  • Serve food that can be donated instead of thrown away if not all consumed or looking at buy back schemes.
  • Endeavour to make sure food is served in compostable materials.
  • Composting of waste on site where possible.
  • Where applicable we’ll be offering digital information and handouts to reduce our paper wastage.
  • Encourage participants to bring a reusable cup with them to events.

How we’re managing energy and water usage wisely:

  • Offering water refill points at events.
