Stomp the trails this spring and take on the swooping South Downs and all it has to offer. With a fully signed 26.2 mile circular route, refreshment stops, marshals and first aid to keep you safe, this professionally organised trekathon has everything you need to cross the finish line safely in style.

Your sponsorship

Your £40 registration fee covers the cost of putting on the event only. To help reach everyone who needs hospice care we ask everyone taking part to raise a minimum of £250. Every pound you raise will go directly to support local people and their families cared for by St Barnabas House.

The difference you make

These are some of the ways in which your sponsorship might be spent

is enough to give a patient a whole night of care at home, giving carers a night off

£500

gives bereaved relatives the chance to get therapeutic support

means a patient can spend their last days at the hospice, surrounded by loved ones

Registration fee: £40

Minimum sponsorship: £250 per person

Registration closes: Sunday 13 March 2022

Minimum age: Entrants must be 14 years and over. Any participant 16 or under must be accompanied by a guardian for the duration of the challenge. Children and Guardians must be on a ratio of 1:1.

Trek length: 26.2 mile (full marathon) circular, off-road

Start and finish venue: Northbrook College, Goring, BN12 6NU

Refreshment stops: 

08:00 to 11:00 – Findon Village Hall, light refreshments, mile 7 approx.

09:30 to 13:00 – Washington Village Hall, full lunch, mile 13 approx.

10:00 to 16:00 – Michelgrove Lane, Angmering Park Estates, light refreshments, mile 19 approx.

How long will it take? Between 7 and 11 hours. The walk must be completed within 12 hours.

Can I walk with my dog? Yes. If you are considering taking part with your dog you will need to sign a seperate challenge declaration. Please contact the team on 01903 254777 or events@stbh.org.uk

While there are no government guidelines currently in place, the safety of all our trekkers, volunteers, staff, and suppliers are paramount. You are free to wear a mask if you so wish but it is not compulsory. Please respect others. There will be PPE available at registration and the rest stops.

Please do not attend the South Downs Trek if you are experiencing any symptoms of Covid-19 or you or a member of your household has tested positive in the last 7 days. If you are in any doubt please test before arrival.

The South Downs Trek lends itself to social distancing with all event activities such as registration, rest stops, and the challenge itself all outside. Once you set off you will naturally separate from other trekkers while on route.
