What an amazing day! Thank you to all 115 walkers who made this year's South Down Trek so special, you're on track to raise an whopping £49K for your local hospice charity. Plus a massive thank you to the volunteers, Rapid Relief for providing the food, Epione Medical for keeping everyone safe out on route and South Sussex RAYNET for supporting on the radio communication, Anytime Fitness for providing the warm up.

All about South Downs Trek 2022

Frequently asked questions
These details are all correct for the 2022 trek - there might be some variation for 2023. We'll update the information nearer to the event.

An endurance challenge at a full marathon distance of 26.2 miles, the first leg of the trek will take you north from Goring-by-Sea to Findon, where you can fuel up at your first refreshment stop.

The route continues north to Washington where you’ll stop and enjoy lunch. From Washington, head west and up onto the South Downs Way for a couple of miles before dropping south and making your way through beautiful farmland to reach your final refreshment stop.

The last leg takes you south through idyllic woodland, before re-joining your outward journey back to Goring-by-Sea. Full route map will be released soon.

 

Trek length: 26.2 mile (full marathon) circular, off-road

Start and finish venue: Northbrook College, Goring, BN12 6NU

Refreshment stops: 

08:00 to 11:00 – Findon Village Hall, light refreshments, mile 7 approx.

09:30 to 13:00 – Washington Village Hall, full lunch, mile 13 approx.

10:00 to 16:00 – Michelgrove Lane, Angmering Park Estates, light refreshments, mile 19 approx.

How long will it take? Between 7 and 11 hours. The walk must be completed within 12 hours.

Can I walk with my dog? Yes. If you are considering taking part with your dog you will need to sign a separate challenge declaration. Please contact the team and let us know.
