Walk the brand new Sussex Hospice Trail, the 200 mile circular route is divided into 26 walks, making it possible for you to complete as much or as little as you wish.
The new Sussex Hospice Trail is open for those looking for a local walking trail challenge in support of St Barnabas House.
The circular route covers 200 miles divided into 26 walks, making it possible for you to complete as little or as much as you choose and in any time frame you wish!
A detailed guide and map for each walk can be found either as a free download on the iFootpath website or on the iFootpath app. These guides contain full text directions with a map showing the route. Photographs, points of interest and background details of sites along the way are also given.
It is the perfect way of experiencing all that Sussex has to offer, from seaside promenades to riverside pastures and tranquil woodlands to the bracing tops of the South Downs.
The variety of the route is a real treat and there are lots of landmarks to visit along the way too. If you’ve ever fancied visiting Arundel Castle, Battle Abbey, Brighton’s i360, Glorious Goodwood or Chichester Cathedral then this is a great opportunity to do just that.
To complete a section of the trail support of St Barnabas House, simply make a small donation to St Barnabas House here or to Friends of Sussex Hospices via the ifootpath app.
If you are taking on a bigger walking challenge or considering the full loop, you might like to set up a JustGiving page to collect sponsors. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to tell us about your challenge or to request a fundraising pack.
On Sunday 1 September many teams will walk ONE of the 26 routes and so together with all hospices in Sussex we will cover the ENTIRE 200 miles of the trail. With the iFootpath app in the palm of your hand you will see your progress as you walk!
Your team will leave your chosen Start Point at 9am and follow the route on the iFootpath app, walking at your own pace. This is not a race! At the end of your walk medals will be issued to each team member.
All you have to do is:
Friends of Sussex Hospices
Friends of Sussex Hospices is a registered charity run entirely by volunteers. It raises funds, through a variety of activities, to support the running costs of all twelve hospice care providers that serve the adults and children of Sussex. Find out more about Friends of Sussex Hospices.
The trail has been made possible thanks to the generosity of volunteer walkers that have helped to map and document the trail, as well as the trail sponsors who have funded the project.
Each part of the trail has been sponsored by an individual or family from Sussex, many of whom have personally experienced the amazing work of the various hospice providers of Sussex and are dedicating their own stretch of the trail to the memory of a loved one.
