Trek the Alps for charity this summer

Our charity trek will certainly challenge us with lots of ups and downs, but the rewards are the pleasure of seeing the most spectacular views this part of Europe has to offer – from stunning cliffs, to gorgeous waterfalls running from glaciers!

Three countries in three days! Join our St Barnabas House Trekking Team for this breath-taking charity trek across the Alps Mont Blanc region. Only five days in total, a highlight of the trek will be covering three counties – France, Italy and Switzerland- in as many days!

Spaces on this once in a lifetime charity trek across the Alps are limited, so register today. No prior trekking experience needed, this 46km trek covers lots of different terrains and gradings but can be undertaken by even inexperienced walkers.

Why challenge yourself for St Barnabas House?

We provide hospice care for local people with life-limiting illnesses and support for their families. Maybe you know someone who we’ve supported, or you yourself has received care from an aspect of the hospice team? Whatever your reason for wanting to to fundraise for us, we thank you.

It’s because of people like you that we’re able to offer high quality, specialist palliative care at the hospice and in the comfort of patients’ own homes. It’s your sponsorship money that means we’re able to offer bereavement counselling to 100s of people locally, who have lost loved ones.

How your sponsorship helps

It costs nearly £9 million each year to run the hospice and the majority of the money has to be raised through donations from amazing people like you. By joining our 2022 Alps trek and raising money you'll be helping us to continue to expand our services, helping us provide care for those who need it for years to come.

  • Registration fee is £299
  • Minimum sponsorship £2700
  • 80% of sponsorship is due by 06 April 2022

We’re working with Global Adventures – who will be our guides for the trek. You’ll need to register on their website

A full and detailed itinerary can be found on the Global Adventures website

Day 1: Flights from the UK to Geneva

Day 2: Trek starts – total approximate distance: 14 km. Starting in Arnouva, a gradual climb through a long valley with the Pre de Bar glacier, climb to the pass of Grand Col Ferret.

Day 3: Approximate distance 15km. A slightly easier day, starting with a gradual decent through the wooded valley of the Drase de Ferret river to the village of Issert and onto Champex-Lac.

Day 4: Approximate distance: 16km. We take a transfer to Trient and climb to the stunning Col de Balme (2,195m) which marks the border between Switzerland and France. Then descend to Argentiere which marks our finish. We transfer to Chamonix for our celebration dinner!

Day 5: Breakfast together, ad transfers to the airport

Your registration fee covers the costs of all this:

  • Return flights from London to Geneva
  • All accommodation
  • All meals on the trek, starting with dinner on Day 1 through to breakfast on Day 5, including a celebratory evening meal in Chamonix on Day 4

  • Comprehensive first aid/medical kit

What’s not included?

These things are not included in the cost of registration:

  • Personal trekking kit (trekking boots, poles, etc)
