Get involved

There’s so many ways you can get involved and support St Barnabas House.

Fundraising online

Fundraising online may seem daunting, but it’s really simple once you know what you’re doing. Learn how to set up your fundraising page and promote your event online.

Creating your online fundraising page

Setting up a JustGiving page is a quick and easy way to let people know you’re raising money. In a world where nearly everyone is online, it’s a perfect complement to the trusty sponsor form.

You can jump straight in and start fundraising within a matter of minutes. Simply visit JustGiving, click on ‘Fundraise for us’ and follow the instructions to set up your fundraising page.

Personalise your page by adding photos and writing a story to tell people why you’re fundraising and inspire them to donate.

Don’t forget to set a fundraising target!

Minimum sponsorship

If you’re fundraising for a specific event you may have a minimum sponsorship target. JustGiving allows you to track all your online and offline sponsorship in one place to give you a running total.

Facebook Donate

Facebook Donate is the next best alternative to JustGiving. It’s really popular and easy to set up. You just need a Facebook profile.

Simply visit our Facebook fundraisers page, click on ‘Raise money’ and follow the instructions to create your fundraiser.

Again, don’t forget to add a photo, explain why you’re raising money and set a target.

Instagram Donate

Simply add a donation sticker to your Insta story, search for and select St Barnabas House and change the title of your fundraiser to include your own name so we know you’ve raised the money.

Promoting your fundraising page

Once you’ve created your fundraising page now it’s time to share your page on social media to get the word out!

Here are our top tips to promoting your page on social media:

  1. Share the link to your fundraising page on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn or in your Instagram bio.
  2. Try posting in the evening when more of your friends or followers are likely to be online.
  3. Record a video of you explaining why you’re fundraising to inspire people about your cause.
  4. If you’re doing an event or challenge, share photos or videos so people know you’ve done it.
  5. Don’t forget to tag St Barnabas House so we can like and comment on your post to say thank you!
  6. Once the donations start rolling in, say thank you to make your supporters feel extra special.

The best way to encourage people to make a donation is to ask them directly. Don’t be afraid to message your close friends and family.

You could also include a link to your fundraising page in your personal email signature, or your work one if your employer is happy for you to do so. Be sure to ask if they offer a match funding scheme.

If you have a blog or a vlog don’t forget to share it there too. If you’re an online gamer, you can share your JustGiving link on Twitch!
