Coffee Shop Volunteers (Bank)

We are looking for volunteers to serve customers at our busy coffee shop on an ad-hoc basis to help cover any sickness or absences.

What’s in it for you:

An opportunity to be part of a team and be able to work independently in providing refreshments to visitors to the hospice.

We will provide you with induction training which will include an Introduction to the Hospice, Health and Safety Awareness and relevant on the job training.

Your Skills:

  • Ability to operate machinery such as dishwasher, coffee machine and cash register
  • A friendly and helpful approach to serving customers.
  • Familiarity with the task of preparing hot and cold drinks.
  • Willingness to learn (some of these skills you will already have and some may require training, which we will provide for you)
  • Willingness to undertake training on Manual Handling, Health & Safety and the Control of Hazardous Substances (COSHH) and the use of specific maintenance tools where appropriate
  • Ability to self manage personal hygiene, skin and other allergies
  • Flexible, adaptable and willing to work on your own or part of our team
  • Reliable and good time-keeping
  • Physically able to carry out allocated tasks
  • An insight into palliative care

Mandatory:

  • You will need to be approved by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
  • Understand the importance of confidentiality
  • Adherence to boundaries of the role and organisation
  • Have resolved any personal grief
