There’s so many ways you can get involved and support St Barnabas House.

Complementary Therapy Volunteer

We need you to assist the Therapy Team by providing a range of complementary therapies to the patients who use the facilities at St Barnabas House.

Due to COVID 19 many of our volunteering roles were suspended, however we are now carefully reintegrating volunteers back into key roles onsite and in our retail shops. Please read our latest updates here.


The role will involve:

  • Being part of the Therapy Team at St Barnabas House
  • Providing complementary therapies for patients who have life limiting or life threatening illnesses
  • Setting up and clearing away equipment for therapy sessions
  • Induction training which will include an Introduction to the Hospice, Health and Safety Awareness and relevant on the job training

Your Skills:

  • Able to deliver and adapt complementary therapy according to needs of the client
  • Willing to carry out repetitive tasks
  • Able to self-manage personal hygiene, skin and other allergies
  • Flexible, adaptable and willing to work on your own or part of our team
  • Willing to carry out instructions from staff
  • Reliable and good time-keeping
  • Physically able to carry out allocated tasks
  • Able to be non-judgmental and accept people as individuals and respect their differences
  • Insightful about palliative care


  • You will also need to be approved by the Disclosure & Barring Service
  • You will need to be qualified and ideally have three years experience
  • You should understand the importance of confidentiality
  • Any personal grief should be resolved
