St Barnabas House depends on over 1,000 volunteers who help in the hospice, in our charity shops and at our fundraising events

We need you to assist the Fleet Maintenance Officer in the upkeep of the St Barnabas House vehicles.
Due to COVID 19 many of our volunteering roles were suspended, however we are now carefully reintegrating volunteers back into key roles onsite and in our retail shops. Please read our latest updates here.
An opportunity to be part of a team and be able to work independently in keeping the hospice vehicles safe and in excellent condition.
The role will include making vehicle checks & minor repairs (bulbs etc), interior/exterior cleaning, and will include some minibus driving during these checks.
We will provide you with induction training which will include an Introduction to the Hospice, Health and Safety Awareness and relevant on the job training.
Willingness to undertake training on Manual Handling, Health & Safety and the Control of Hazardous Substances (COSHH) and the use of specific maintenance tools where appropriate
Good communication and listening skills
Ability to use maintenance apparatus including battery driven equipment, pressure washer and small steps / ladder
Ability to use small hand tools i.e. screwdriver
Flexible, adaptable and willing to work on your own or part of our team
Reliable and good time-keeping
Physically able to carry out allocated tasks
An insight into palliative care
You will need to have been approved by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
Understand the importance of confidentiality
Adherence to boundaries of the role and organisation
Have resolved any personal grief
