Volunteer Counsellors

Join our team of volunteer counsellors and help play an important role at St Barnabas House by supporting patients and their families.

Why we want you:

Our Family Services Team are a small group of staff that provide support services to the loved ones of our patients as part of our hospice care. These services include counselling and emotional support, chaplaincy and our bereavement service. We have an opportunity for more specially trained volunteers to offer our service-users ongoing counselling support.

Mandatory:

  • Be a qualified counsellor or be in your second year of postgraduate diploma or degree course in Counselling or Psychotherapy
  • Approval by the Disclosure and Barring Service (check carried out by hospice)
  • Attendance to in-house training, regular supervision and meetings as required
  • Adherence to the BACP Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy
  • Any personal grief sufficiently resolved

Applications, Interviews and Training dates:

Interviews, if offered, will be held in 2019 on 3 September, 4 September and 5 September (alternative dates might be possible to arrange with advanced warning).

You will be required to attend in-house Bereavement and Loss Training which is split into six sessions. This will take place every Thursday morning, 9:30am to 1pm, starting on 12 September 2019 and ending on 17 October 2019.
