Volunteer Warehouse Assistants

We are looking for volunteers to help at our Distribution Centre, located on Northbrook Road, Worthing, which is where we sort and distribute all donations of stock.

Due to COVID 19 the majority of our hospice-based volunteering roles are currently suspended. However we are now pleased to be able to reopen our doors for those wishing to apply to volunteer in one of our charity shops. Please read our latest updates here.

Why we want you?

Due to a large amount of generous donations from the local community, we are in need of more people to help with sorting the items in order for them to be sent out for sale.

What will you be doing?

Helping with a range of duties such as separating items by item type, checking their quality and picking stock out of storage for distribution to the shops.

Your skills:

  • A willingness to learn (Some of these skills you will already have and some may require training, which we will provide for you)
  • Ability to use a hand press appliance
  • Willing to uphold warehouse standards through various cleaning tasks
  • Willing to carry out repetitive tasks
  • Ability to operate all shop equipment and appliances such as computerised till
  • Willingness to carry out instructions from staff
  • Reliable and good time-keeping
  • Physically able to carry out allocated tasks
  • Ability to be non-judgmental and accept people as individuals and respect their differences
  • Ability to empathise with the people that you come into contact with
  • Ability to work on your own and as part of our team
  • An insight into palliative care

If you are interest in this role, please contact Voluntary Services on 01903 706315 or email volunteers@stbh.org.uk.
