Fundraising Volunteer Opportunities

We are always looking for volunteers to help us at our fundraising events across the Worthing area throughout the year. If you think you can spare a couple of hours, please complete our enquiry form here. You can take a look at our volunteering FAQs here.


Occasional Fundraising Volunteer

Are you friendly, fun and interested in spending a few hours of your time to make a huge difference?

You could be cheering on some amazing runners at the Brighton Half Marathon, selling raffle tickets at a village fair or bucket collecting at a supermarket; there are so many different events you can support starting with just two hours of your time.

Fundraising Volunteer Lead

Are you sociable, self-motivated and enthusiastic and ready for a new challenge?

The Lead Volunteer role is ideal if you can spare some time on a more regular basis. Training is required as we want you to be a confident ambassador for the charity.

Night to Remember

When: Saturday 11 September to Sunday 12  September 2021    n2r

Where: Worthing Leisure Centre and various points around Worthing


  • Route marshal – various shifts from 9pm to 6:30am
  • Registration desk – 7:30pm to 10:30pm
  • Cheering and medals – 11:30pm to 5:30am
  • Car park – 7:30pm to 11pm
  • Event set up – Saturday 11 September at 5:30pm to 8:30pm
  • Event break down – Sunday 12 September from 5:30pm
  • Volunteer zone leader (must be a car driver and owner)
  • Pre-event support before the walkers set off
  • Barnabee mascot (must be mascot trained) – for registration and start
  • Silent disco volunteer (you will be walking the route and energising participants

You can work in pairs or groups for most roles and do short or long shifts, whatever you can manage.

St Barnabas House open garden in conjunction with NGS

An opportunity to see our beautiful gardens and ponds maintained by staff and volunteers.

Where: Titnore Lane, Worthing, BN12 6NZ201509 – Day Hospice Gardens (9)

When: Sunday 12 September 2021, 10:30 am  – 4 pm

Roles: Meeting and directing visitors, making cakes in preparation for the day. Shifts available morning or afternoon. Volunteers will be able to take a tour of the gardens and partake of refreshments. Outdoor event, suitable clothing and footwear advised.

Where: Peace Statue, Hove                                                                              btn marathon

When: Sunday 12 September 2021, from 9am

Roles: Cheer squad, 1 lead volunteer, 10 occasional volunteers.

Multi charity event, St Barnabas House are charity partners www.worthing10k.co.uk

Where: Worthing Promenade, BN11 3FJ

When: Sunday 10 October 2021 shifts from 8am -12 noon

Roles: Route marshaling, only one volunteer per station.

Roles: Water Stop, Route Marshal, Finish Line Area.

Christmas Collections

Where: At Worthing supermarkets      IMG_6285

When: Dates to be confirmed during December

Roles: Dress festively, role involves holding a bucket and interacting with store customers. Mainly standing, chairs available if needed. Shifts from 10am to 4pm.

Friends Groups for St Barnabas House

Could you and your friends be super fundraising friends of St Barnabas House? Could you co-ordinate a fundraising event, support the hospice by putting up posters in your area and act as a hospice ambassador?

Where: Particularly in central Worthing, Goring, Angmering, West Chiltington, Rustington and Ashington

Frequency: As and when you can organise activities
