Intermediate Communication Skills at End of Life

About the course

The aim of this study day is to support the development of compassionate and effective communication skills for clinicians and professionals working with people with life-limiting and end of life conditions.

The session will provide an opportunity to: –

  • consider the theoretical component of why effective communication has been so important when caring for people at the end of life
  • consider the range of communication skills that can be used
  • observe and reflect on the use of communication skills to ensure that people have the opportunity to be heard and responded to appropriately in a sensitive manner
  • consider techniques to manage our own feelings and responses to difficult situations (emotional intelligence and resilience)
