Intermediate Communication Skills at End of Life

About the course

The aim of this study day is to support the development of compassionate and effective communication skills for clinicians and professionals working with people with life limiting, end-of-life conditions.

Learning outcomes:

  • Discuss the theoretical component of why effective communication is important when caring for people at the end of life and those close to them
  • Demonstrate the range of communication skills that can be used
  • Reflect on the use of communication skills to ensure that people can be heard and responded to appropriately in a sensitive manner
  • Examine techniques to manage our own feelings and responses to difficult situations (emotional intelligence and resilience)
