About the course

Utilising technology enhanced simulation we aim to provide a learning environment to support knowledge and understanding, as well as skill application related to verification of expected adult death.

Learning outcomes:

  • Describe what is meant by ‘expected death’
  • Identify the clinical signs of death and conduct a clinical examination of the three key systems involved
  • Define legal requirements and current guidelines to support care at the end of life and verification of death
  • Discuss the role of the coroner

Please bring a stethoscope for the practical session.

Who should attend?

Any Registered General Nurse supporting dying service users. It is recommended you also attend the Recognising Dying course.
