Chair for Existing Board of Trustees

St Barnabas Hospices offers specialist palliative care through two hospices: St Barnabas House adult hospice in Worthing and Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice near Arundel in Sussex.

 

The person who joins the team as the Chair of  the Board of Trustees will not only need to be at the top of their game in terms of strategic leadership, people skills, business and commercial acumen, but they will also need to be demonstratively committed to our values and vision. We are at a very exciting stage of growth and development and this is a unique opportunity to be part of one of the largest and most successful charities in the South East.

Key duties include:

  • To lead and ensure the Board of Trustees, fulfils its responsibilities for the governance of St Barnabas Hospices.
  • To work in partnership with the Chief Executive helping them to achieve the objectives set for St Barnabas Hospices in accordance with its mission and strategy.
  • To optimise the relationship between The Board of Trustees, staff, other St Barnabas Hospices stakeholders and the wider community.

 

Time commitment: Around 10 meetings a year during weekdays

Duration: Initially 3 years, can be extended for a further three years

Location: Worthing, West Sussex

Remuneration: Unpaid (expenses reimbursed)

Training: A full induction and support training will be provided
