£12,805 p.a. (F.T.E £24,010)

About the role

This is an exciting time to join us at St Barnabas Hospices as we look to grow and develop our Spiritual and Pastoral Care team to meet the evolving needs of palliative and end of life care to our community.

We are looking for a theologically and pastorally competent person, who is grounded in their own shape of spirituality and theologically inclusive, to assist in the provision of spiritual, emotional and pastoral support to patients who are under the care of our hospices, together with their families and carers.

Key aspects of the role are:

  • Assess the complex pastoral, spiritual and religious needs of patients, their family members, and carers, and plan support and care accordingly
  • To support the Chaplain and Pastoral Care Lead in the provision of religious services within St Barnabas House, and to work to meet the religious needs of patients, their families, and carers.
  • Assist in providing appropriate training and support to others in their provision of pastoral and spiritual care, including participation in internal and external training programmes
  • To participate where appropriate in the hospice’s provision of bereavement support, for example with appropriate training, to conduct occasional funerals and memorial services
  • The provision of on call and emergency chaplaincy cover at both St Barnabas House, our Adult Hospice, and Chestnut Tree House, our Children’s Hospice

A full driving licence and access to a car for work purposes is required.
