Clinical Nurse Specialist – Community

Hours: 37.5 hrs per week
Salary: £36,310 - £49,570 p.a. depending on depth and variety of experience
Closing date: Sunday 15 November

This is an exciting time to join us at St Barnabas Hospice as we grow our community specialist palliative care team again to support more people at end of life across 7 days a week. We are a progressive, dynamic team, keen to build our research capability, be leaders in palliative care and at the forefront of delivering outstanding palliative care to people in the community.

We continue to provide face to face specialist services in these challenging times (with the right protections in place), in addition to using technological approaches to ensure our service is responsive, flexible and centred around the patient and their family. In our team, you will be able to utilise all of your nursing clinical skills to meet patients’ needs at the time of your visit.

We are seeking highly motivated nurses with clinical palliative care knowledge and experience at Band 6 or above, confident decision-making skills, innovative and with a passion to always improve.

The CNS role at St Barnabas aligns with Health Education England’s Advanced Clinical Practice Framework to ensure our underpinning standards are consistent with advanced level practice, including Physical assessment and Prescribing; however, consideration will be given to applicants with relevant experience and demonstrating commitment to acquire these skills within an agreed timeframe.

Briefly, key aspects of the role are;

  • The ability to work independently
  • Undertaking holistic assessment
  • Providing specialist advice and Managing symptoms
  • Supporting those who are anxious or distressed
  • Liaising with appropriate general or specialist services,
  • Avoiding unnecessary hospital admissions,
  • Providing a rapid and flexible response to patients including delivering clinical interventions where appropriate; such as catheterising, stat injections and syringe driver
  • Enable the patient to achieve their preferred place of care and death
  • Full driving licence and access to a car for work purposes
