Domestic Services Manager

Hours: 37.5 hrs per week
Salary: £27,500 p.a.
Closing date: Thursday 21 October

St Barnabas Hospices offers specialist palliative care through two hospices: St Barnabas House adult hospice in Worthing and Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice near Arundel in Sussex.

We are looking to recruit a hardworking, enthusiastic individual to lead our Domestic Services Team located at St Barnabas House, Worthing and Chestnut Tree House near Arundel.   

The successful candidate will be part of a team working within our Estates & Facilities department, offering a high quality, flexible, and focused service. The Domestic Services Manager is an important member of the team who helps to provide a range of duties across the hospices in a professional manner.

Principal responsibilities:

  • Ensure the day-to-day domestic work is carried out effectively by the domestic team and manage the work of team’s schedules considering unforeseen circumstances i.e., sickness absence.
  • Assist and provide a full cleaning service to the hospices across both sites, clinical areas, offices, and departments in accordance with work schedules and activity within the area.
  • Oversee the recruitment and training of teams to take on more domestic services responsibilities across the hospices.
  • Lead and develop cleaning schedules working with the clinical teams and the domestic services team to develop best practices and standards.
  • Reviewing and acting on audits and inspections internally and external.
  • We believe in investing in our staff and are looking for a candidate who is passionate about delivering a high-quality service for both St Barnabas House and Chestnut Tree House.

Essential criteria:

  • Full Driving Licence & Own Transport to move between sites
  • Qualifications within housekeeping, i.e., relevant NVQ Level 2 qualifications or others.
