Health and Safety Advisor

Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £38,520 - £41,660 p.a. depending on depth and variety of experience in a similar role

St Barnabas Hospices offers specialist palliative care through two hospices: St Barnabas House adult hospice in Worthing and Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice near Arundel in Sussex.

We are looking for a passionate Health & Safety Advisor to provide a professional, practical and comprehensive support service on all aspects of health and safety, from developing and delivering training to ensuring compliance with policies and legislation.

You will be responsible for ensuring a safe and secure working environment for our staff and all our visitors by driving best practice across our entire business by supporting managers in understanding and working to the parameters set out in the relevant policies and legislation.

Responsibilities include:

Ensure all hospice premises are compliant with statutory duties. Undertake regular visits to all hospice premises and carry out formal audits as necessary Develop, plan and deliver regular training for all staff and volunteers (inc. Health & Safety induction, risk assessments, COSHH, manual handling). Provide Health and Safety and good practice advise to help support managers in ensuring compliance with relevant policies and legislation

Experience and qualifications:

Experience of working as a Health and Safety professional in the NHS or other Healthcare environment. NEBOSH diploma or similar level Health and Safety Qualification. Chartered Member of IOSH or working towards membership. Evidence of CPD. A Teaching qualification (desirable)

A full driving licence and own transport are essential for this post, as you will be required to travel to other sites within the organisation.
