St Barnabas Hospices offers specialist palliative care through two hospices:

St Barnabas House provides palliative care to adults in the Worthing, Adur, Arun and Henfield areas through a range of services, including In-patient Care, Day Hospice and Community Care.

Chestnut Tree House is the children’s hospice reaching across Sussex and South East Hampshire. Providing care and support for children/young people and their families with life-shortening conditions.

This exciting opportunity will be a strategic role where you will be a member of the executive team on the people and development agenda and directly working with the Chief Executive.

This post will be a trusted advisor of the Chief Executive so you will need to have the ability to appropriately challenge but also support on key decisions.

The role has full HR generalist responsibility which will include leading the Learning & Development, Human Resources, Recruitment, Workforce and Payroll functions, so you will need to be agile in your approach, adapting to a variety of personalities and specialisms.

The right person for this role needs to have an open-door policy, available at all times to support the team and executive team on all people related queries. Although this is a strategic role, you’ll need to be “hands on” in your approach, not afraid to roll up your sleeves whenever required. You will need to be strong at building relationships with internal and external stakeholders such as, regulatory bodies, NHS trusts etc. and the right candidate will have had experience working within this space and be familiar with the challenges which present themselves on a daily basis.

Criteria

  • Experience of leading a diverse HR team in the Healthcare sector
  • Proven track record as a Business Partner to a Senior Management Team
  • Experienced dealing with regulatory bodies and other external organisations
  • Experience working in a senior post, providing advise & support to executive leaders
  • Experience of Employee Relations and Employment Law
  • Confident in your own ability
  • Adaptable in approach
  • A team player
