Maintenance Officer

Hours: 37.5 hrs per week
Salary: £24,170 p.a.

6 month – Fixed Term Contract

St Barnabas Hospices offers specialist palliative care through two hospices: St Barnabas House adult hospice in Worthing and Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice near Arundel in Sussex.

Our Maintenance Officers play a vital role within the running of the hospices. They take pride in the environment in which we operate, and it is the Maintenance Officers responsibility to ensure that all equipment and facilities are fully functioning, keeping the safety of Patients, customers, and employees at the forefront of everything they do.

The team are currently working on various projects to enhance and develop our facilities at both hospices, so additional support is required. So we have two fixed term vacancies available.

Principal duties and responsibilities

  • Maintenance Officer required to work across a fast-paced environment and multi-site.
  • You will be required to carry out various reactive and planned maintenance tasks across our sites in a professional manner.
  • Day to Day duties will include Plumbing, Carpentry, General Maintenance and Painting Decorating.
  • To ensure planned maintenance tasks are completed to the stated schedules and keeping records of when works are completed.
  • Maintaining internal and external repairs are completed within the set time frames.
  • All emergency equipment is maintained and in good working condition.
  • Candidates must have excellent organisational skills.
  • Supervise volunteers within the maintenance team.
  • Undertake such other work as may be assigned which is consistent with the nature of the job and its level of responsibility.
  • Ensure Health and Safety guidelines are adhered to.
  • Work with external contractors and act as site liaison when works are carried out to ensure all site health and safety policy is followed.

As this is a dual sited role your own transport or the ability to drive is essential.
