Research Lead

Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £41,520 - £47,840 p.a. depending on depth and variety of experience in a similar role

2 Year, fixed term contract (with the possibility of extension)

St Barnabas Hospices offers specialist palliative care through two hospices: St Barnabas House adult hospice in Worthing, which serves the local area and Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice near Arundel, which serves the whole of Sussex as well as south east Hampshire.

St Barnabas Hospices’ vision is a future of palliative care shaped by research, in which healthcare professionals are empowered to provide services based on robust evidence, and to develop new and innovative approaches to improve patients’ outcomes.

Our commitment is to participate in ethical and sound research that improves our knowledge and understanding of caring for adults, children and young people living with life‐limiting illnesses, their families and carers.

Our Research and Innovation Strategy aims to develop a Research Department across St Barnabas Hospices to enable our clinical and non-clinical staff and patients to work collaboratively with the aim of producing high-quality evidenced body of work that will inform our practice locally, nationally and internationally.

We are looking for a Research Lead to provide scientific leadership in palliative and end-of-life care research programme within St Barnabas Hospices.

This is a new role and we are seeking a brilliantly organised person to drive the implementation of Research and Innovation Strategy, providing overarching responsibility and leadership for the development of a coherent research work plan across St Barnabas House and Chestnut Tree House.

You will be closely supported by a Research Administrative role, together with members of the Research and Innovation Group overseen by the Chief Executive and Clinical Director, with input from trustees, to help us consolidate our position as research-engaged hospices.
