Supper Cook

Hours: 8 hours per fortnight - alternate weekends (4 hours per day – 3.30pm – 7.30-pm Saturday & Sunday)
Salary: £9.87 per hour - plus weekend enhancements
Closing date: Friday 2 July

St Barnabas House provides specialist palliative care to adults in the Worthing, Adur, Arun and Henfield areas through a range of services, including in-patient care and community living well services.

We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic and hardworking individual to join our catering team at St Barnabas.

Working alternate weekend evenings your duties will include cooking, preparing and serving up basic supper dishes for our inpatients, liaising with our nursing team regarding patients’ meal requirements, laying up supper and breakfast trays, collecting trays from patients’ rooms, clearing down and washing-up, cleaning and clearing down kitchen areas.

  • Previous cooking experience would be an advantage.
  • Previous experience of working / cooking in a care environment and/or an understanding of food handling and hygiene regulations would be preferred.

You will need to have a flexible, team-orientated approach and must be comfortable working in the hospice setting, working in the ward areas and going into patients’ rooms.

You will be required to work public holidays if they fall on your contracted day to work.

You will, on occasion, be asked to work additional hours to cover annual leave, sickness or busy periods.
