Ward Manager

Hours: 37.5 hr pw – Part-time also considered
Salary: FTE £41,290 - £51,320 p.a. depending on depth and variety of experience in a similar role

St Barnabas House provides specialist palliative care to adults in the Worthing, Adur, Arun and Henfield areas through a range of services, including in-patient care and community living well services.

 

This is an exciting time to join us at St Barnabas Hospice as we continue to work within the integrated care system locally and grow our specialist palliative care services to support more people at end of life across 7 days a week. Above everything else, our service is patient centred.

 

We are seeking highly motivated Registered clinical professional with significant clinical service development, management, knowledge and experience at Band 7 or above. We seek professionals with a demonstrable flexible and agile approach alongside confident decision-making skills to provide operational and clinical leadership resilience over the winter period.  Applications are welcome from knowledgeable professionals with experience or an interest in specialist palliative care.

 

This role is offered as a Fixed Term / Secondment contract for 6 months; with immediate start

 

The post holder will:

  • Be responsible for general management of the ward and safe delivery of patient care, including the assessment of care needs, development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care
  • Define standards including professional behaviours, competencies and outcomes
  • Develop a positive continuous culture of improvement
  • Manage the supervision and deployment of staff.
  • Provide direct patient care when necessary.
  • Use initiative and work without direct supervision
  • Deputise for the senior team
  • Ensure that appropriate staffing and levels of service are maintained
  • Take management responsibility for the ward as a whole on a shift by shift basis.

 

The post involves teaching pre and post registration students and apprentice candidates as well as some ongoing responsibility for project management. This post will involve some shift working that may include unsocial hours, in order to understand and support the service
