About the role

It is essential that applicants have a relevant NVQ Level 3 and previous experience of working as a Healthcare Assistant in a hospice environment.

This post involves shift work over 7 days.

The hospice supports the family and patient towards the end of their life

The post holder will work as part of the multidisciplinary team and will assist and support the community clinical team(s). This will include working as within the patient’s home environment to provide care and support alongside the registered nurse to patients with palliative care needs, and their families.

The post holder would be expected to undertake a range of patient interventions within the scope of NVQ level 3 skills as determined by the needs of the individual patient.  Excellent communication skills are essential for this role, both with patients and families, the wider specialist palliative care MDT, and when collaborating with primary care teams caring for the patient.

The post holder may at times be required to provide support and cover as a Band 3 HCA for the specialist palliative care inpatient unit.
