About the role

This is an exciting time to join us at St Barnabas House as we continue to grow our community team. The Hospice at Home team work alongside District Nursing teams and other health care services to provide end of life care support to patients and their carers, in their usual place of residence if this is their wish.

We have expanded our Hospice at Home service to include a Night Service, covering the hours of 8pm to 8am, 7 nights per week.

We’re looking for Registered Nurses who are adaptable, caring and preferably with experience of palliative care, to join our bank team.

The role involves:

  • Working closely with our various professionals to support the physical and psychological needs of patients nearing end of life at home.
  • Assessing and monitoring changes in patients
  • Administering medication in response to symptom control.
  • Verification of Expected Death.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise with our patients, their families, and various professionals.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Adaptable and positive to the challenges of working overnight.

Experience of working with patients at end of life in the community would be desirable. A full driving licence is essential for the role.
