General Terms and Conditions

Opening Times

The St Barnabas House eBay Shop is open Monday to Friday from 8:30am until 4:30pm. We will endeavour to respond to all questions and queries within 48 hours inside these opening hours, excluding bank holidays and other public holidays.

Payment Options Accepted

Currently the St Barnabas House eBay shop can only accept payments via PayPal. We cannot accept other forms of payment or cash on delivery. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Payment Time Allowance

We would kindly ask that payment for items bought are made within 7 days of the auction closing. Unfortunately after 7 days without payment, eBay will automatically open an unpaid item case on our behalf. In this situation you will be granted another 4 days to make payment before your eBay account will be marked with an unpaid item.

International Bidders

Unfortunately, at this time we will only accept bids from domestic and European residents. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Cancellations of Bids or Auction Win

We understand that sometimes you may have a change of heart and wish to cancel bids or no longer purchase an item you have won. Unless specified otherwise, we are happy to honour any request to cancel bids or purchases that are made within 3 working days. This will allow us to relist the item promptly and also recoup our fees from eBay.

Policy On Buyers

We will always try to treat everyone we deal with, with the upmost respect, and we would kindly ask you do the same. We reserve the right to end communications and dealings with anyone we feel is abusive or non-compliant with our policies.

Counterfeit Goods Policy

To the best of our knowledge all our goods sold on eBay are genuine items. However if you feel that you have either purchased a counterfeit item or believe one of our listings contains non-genuine goods, please contact us and we will immediately look into this.

In the unlikely event that you have purchased a counterfeit item we will refund all money including return delivery cost. Any listing found to be selling counterfeit goods will be ended immediately and the item destroyed.

Items Sold On Our Behalf

eBay allows people to sell their own goods and donate a percentage (between 10% and 100%) to a charity of their choice.

Whilst we appreciate all the generous contributions we receive from our supporters, we reserve the right to cancel a listing made on our behalf if we feel it is necessary. These would include items such as knives and other paraphernalia we believe could be used as weapons and also items we feel are inappropriate for our charity to support.

Similarly, if you see an item being sold on our behalf that you do not feel should be, please contact us and we will look into it and take action if necessary.

Complaints

Customer satisfaction is our main concern and we appreciate all feedback offered. If at any time you have a complaint please contact us via eBay messages and we will endeavour to respond to you within 48 hours. Complaints will be reviewed on a case by case basis and we hope to resolve any problems as soon as possible. We would kindly ask that you give us the opportunity to resolve any complaints before leaving feedback.

Delivery and Returns

Dispatch Times

We aim to dispatch items within 48 hours of receiving payment, however in busier periods we will allow 3 days for dispatch. Upon dispatch we will contact you to give you an estimated delivery time and any further details possible such as tracking numbers.

We are more than happy to post to your work address if you do not think you will be at home to receive your parcel.

Combined Shipping

We are happy to offer combined shipping wherever possible. If you have purchased two or more items and wish to combine postage costs, please contact us.

Late Delivery or Missing Parcels

Please allow 14 days for delivery before messaging us about late or missing parcels. We can then investigate the whereabouts of your parcel with the courier and refund accordingly.

Collection in Person

We may offer the opportunity for collection in person for larger items from our Retail Distribution Centre based in Worthing. If you choose this option collections should be made within 14 days of the auction ending during our opening hours of 8:30am to 4:30pm. We will not hold items for longer than this period unless previously agreed. After 14 days we will refund the cost of the item to you and re-list it.

In some circumstances we will be able to deliver in the local area, but further cost will be involved and it is at the charities discretion to where we will deliver. Please contact us before bidding to arrange this.

Whilst we advise against it, should you wish to book your own courier to collect an item on your behalf we would ask that you inform us of your intention to do so. We must stress that we take no responsibility in this process. The warehouse is not manned by staff trained to pack or move large items. Thus any damage or loss incurred during the collection and delivery via a private courier is between you and the courier. Any compensation should be claimed from the courier. Please note should you decide to return your item, we will not cover the cost of a courier for it save for exceptional circumstances, which is why we highly recommend collecting in person. In booking an independent courier you are accepting these terms and conditions.

Returns and Refunds

Returns

Unless specified otherwise, we are happy to accommodate returns within 14 days in accordance with eBay’s returns policy. In some circumstances we may offer a longer returns period. This will be noted on the eBay listing for the specific item.

We will not cover the cost of return postage unless the item is being returned because it is faulty or not as advertised. If this turns out to be the case we will make a full refund plus the cost of return postage. In the case of items collected in person the returns period covers the 14 days from the date of collection. Returning the item is your own responsibility. If you chose to hire an independent courier against our advice it will be at your own cost to return the item to us. Unfortunately as a charity we cannot afford to cover this cost.

Returns Policy

1. Returning an item

St Barnabas House Hospices value your support greatly and we want to offer excellent customer services to our patrons. Therefore we accept all returns within 14 days of you receiving your item for a full refund including original postage costs as long as the item is returned to us in the same condition as we sold it. In the majority of cases the buyer is responsible for return postage costs in accordance with eBay’s policies, however there are exceptions

1. Where the item was not as described. If you purchase an item and it’s not as described, for example the size is wrong, or the condition of the item is worse than specified, we will refund all costs. We may ask for photographic proof of the item and further information on how the item condition contradicts that of the information given in the listing.

2. Item doesn’t work when listed as working. We PAT test all electrical items and thoroughly test them to make sure they work as specified. However if you receive an item that is faulty then we will happily cover the cost of returning the item for a full refund. We re-test all items on their return to us, and we may not refund return postage if the item is in working condition in our opinion.

All returns can be facilitated through the returns section in ‘My eBay’. If you think you qualify for a full refund including returns postage, please contact us first before returning an item so we can advise you further.

If you are dissatisfied with your item, but the returns period has lapsed, please contact us and we will happily discuss a way of resolving the issue. We may offer a partial refund where suitable.

In some situations where the cost of returning an item would exceed the value of said item it may be possible to obtain a refund without returning the item. Again we would kindly ask that you contact us to discuss this.

Please note we will only refund returns postage costs up to a certain amount. If the cost exceeds that, it is at the buyer’s expense.

Parcels weighing less than 1KG: £3.00

Parcels weighing between 1KG-2KG: £4.00

Parcels weighing between 2KG-5KG: £6.00

Parcels weighing between 5KG-10KG: £7.50

Parcels weighing between 10KG-15KG: £10.00

Please note that if you arranged your own courier for collection only items against our advice we will not refund the cost of returning an item
