Light Up a Life

This year’s service will be held at Worthing Assembly Hall on Monday 11 December – at 6pm, doors open at 5:30pm.

This event holds a special place in our hearts and we need you to help make this possible! There are a number of roles available so have a read through the descriptions below and let us know which role you’re interested in when applying, or let us know if you’re happy to assist in more than one role.

What are the roles?

A key part of any of the below roles  is that you will need to be comfortable talking to, and interacting with people.

Please note that timings are subject to change.

  • Set up| When: 3pm – 5:30pm |Role description: You’ll be helping set up the main assembly hall before guests arrive. This will include putting out programs and literature on the chairs and some lifting will be involved. You’ll need to work well in a team and have a good eye for detail.
  • Welcome | When: 5:15pm – 6.15pm | Role description: You’ll be welcoming guests as they arrive at the venue. This role will be based outside and is people facing. You will need to be able to stand for up to an hour.
  • Queue management| When: 5:15pm – 6.15pm| Role description: Chatting to people in the queue making sure everyone is happy and the queue runs smoothly. You will need to be able to stand for up to an hour.
  • Guest registration| When: 5pm – 6:15pm |Role description: All guests have to register for a ticket to attend Light Up a Life. You will be registering guests in at a welcome table, so you will be able to sit. Please be aware that this will be a busy fast paced role and you will need to be happy to use technology.
  • Ushers| When: 5:30pm – 6:15pm and 7pm – 7:45pm |Role description: You’ll be helping guests to their seats and answering any questions they may have, or helping after the service. This is a people facing role and will involve standing.
  • In memory support| When: 7pm – 8pm |Role description: Guests will have the opportunity to write messages and dedications to their loved ones, you will need to support in this quiet reflection area.
  • Refreshments| When: 7pm -8:30pm |Role description: Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy some refreshments after the service has finished. You’ll help serve hot and cold drinks, help guests and keep the area clean and tidy.
  • Pack down| When: 7:30pm – 9:30pm |Role description:  Help us pack down the service, stalls and refreshments, this role will involve lifting.

You’ll be sent a confirmation email once you have applied and then events team will be in touch to confirm your details.

Please note – all the information that you need for your role will be sent to you a few weeks before event day. Including: all the details for the day, your specific role details, a list of everything that you need to bring with you, your location and timings.
