The aim of this study day is to support the development of compassionate and effective communication skills for clinicians and professionals working with people with life limiting, end-of-life conditions. 

Cost:

  • For all Sussex employees in health and social care: free (fully funded by NHS Sussex)
  • For anyone working outside of Sussex: £50 (1/2 day)/£100 (full day) all materials provided

All health and social care professionals from all clinical/ social care settings

Learning outcomes

-Discuss the theoretical component of why effective communication is important when caring for people at the end of life and those close to them.

-Demonstrate the range of communication skills that can be used.

-Reflect on the use of communication skills to ensure that people can be heard and responded to appropriately in a sensitive manner. 

-Examine techniques to manage our own feelings and responses to difficult situations (emotional intelligence and resilience).
