Course details

Utilising simulation, we aim to provide a learning environment to support knowledge and understanding as well as skill application related to verification of expected adult death. Please bring your own stethoscope for the practical session.

Who should attend?

Any Registered Nurse/Paramedic supporting dying people.

It is recommended you also attend a Recognising Dying study session. 

Learning outcomes

-Define what is meant by ‘expected death’

-Identify the clinical signs of death and conduct a clinical examination of the three key systems involved

-Discuss legal requirements and current guidelines to support verification of death

-Describe the role of the coroner
