Symptom management at the end of life

Course details

This online session introduces the assessment and management of some of the common symptoms experienced by service users receiving palliative care and those at the end of life. This will include pain, nausea, terminal agitation, breathlessness and respiratory secretions. 

Cost:

  • For all Sussex employees in health and social care: free (fully funded by NHS Sussex)
  • For anyone working outside of Sussex: £50 (1/2 day)/£100 (full day) all materials provided

All health care professionals from all clinical settings.

Learning outcomes

-To discuss the importance of impeccable assessment in relation to holistic care and effective symptom control.

-To identify the common symptoms that may occur, especially in the last hours or days of life.

-To describe the pharmacological management of key symptoms.

-To recognise that symptom control may be complex and know where to seek help and advice.
